Back by popular demand, the second VGS Field Trip to the Kinsol Trestle near Shawnigan Lake will be on a Saturday this year.
Lori Treloar, Executive Director of the Shawnigan Lake Historical Society, has offered VGS a special opportunity to learn, on location, about the Kinsol Trestle! The Kinsol Trestle is one of the tallest free-standing and most spectacular timber rail trestle structures in the world. At 187 metres in length and standing 44 metres above the salmon bearing Koksilah River, the Kinsol is an incredible structure.
We will meet at the Kinsol Trestle parking lot off Renfrew Road with the tour starting at 10:30 am. Lori will walk with us along the beautiful one-kilometer trail to the trestle while describing the history and the restoration of the trestle.
You must be able to comfortably walk 2 kilometers along a well-groomed flat trail.
If the day is hot, please bring a water bottle.
